How to Share Google Calendar Availability Without Showing Event Details

Use per-calendar privacy on Awase share links so clients see busy blocks — not titles like "Acme renewal call" or "Dentist."

Google Calendar sharing asks a blunt question: how much of your diary should this person see? Most professionals need a narrower answer — show when I am free, hide what I am doing — without maintaining a second "public" calendar by hand.

Real-world example

An executive coach has "Client — Series B CEO" and "Therapy" on the same Google calendar. Sending a Google busy/free link still exposes blocked patterns. They connect Google to Awase, create a bookable share link, set that calendar to Private on the link (clients see "Busy" only), and send `/share/coaching` to prospects. Titles never leave the workspace.

What Google gives you — and where it breaks

"See all event details" hands someone your diary. "See only free/busy" hides titles but still shows that every Thursday afternoon is blocked — and one mistaken click restores full detail.

Marking individual events private in Google helps, but under time pressure people forget. A vendor call titled with a competitor's name goes out on a shared link once, and that is enough.

How Awase share-link privacy actually works

After you connect Google (read-only), Awase imports the calendars you choose. When you create a share link — View only or Bookable — you pick which calendars are included and set each to Public or Private for that link.

Private: the share page shows a busy block, not the title, location, or attendees. Public: full details appear on the share page. Default workspace rules plus per-event overrides still apply.

Owners can also Hide on Awase for specific events. Hidden events disappear from the workspace and share views without deleting them in Google.

Walkthrough: one bookable link, private calendars

1. Connect Google Calendar and import the calendars that should block client bookings.

2. Under Availability, create booking types — e.g. "Intro call" at 30 minutes with Tuesday/Thursday windows, 24-hour minimum notice.

3. Under Share, create a Bookable link. Include only the calendars that matter. Set each to Private on this link.

4. Open the link in an incognito window. Confirm you see open slots and "Busy" blocks — not event titles.

5. Submit a test request. It lands in Pending until you approve; the client then gets a confirmation email with ICS.

Quick answers

Will clients know I am busy if titles are hidden?

Yes — they see the time is unavailable. They do not see why. Private calendars render as busy blocks on the share page.

Can assistants set this up?

Assistants with Manage share links permission can create and edit links. Only the owner connects Google Calendar.

Worth trying on your actual calendar

Reading about private availability sharing is one thing. Connecting your Google calendars and sending a test link is the part that usually clicks.
